Khaali haath shaam aayi hai
Khaali laut jaayegi
aaja bhee na aaya koi
khaali laut jaayegi
-----------------------------------
Paani paani re khaare paani re
naino mein bhar jaa
Neendein khaali kar jaa
----------------------------------
Ek Door se aati hai
Paas aake palat thi hai
ek raah akeli jo rukthi hai na chalthi hai
yeh soch ke baiti hoon
ek raah tho woh hogi
tum tak jo pahunch thi hai
Is mod se jaate hai
------------------------------------
surmayee shaam is tharah aaye
saans lethe hai jis tharah saaye
------------------------------------
Ek akeli chhatri mein jab
aadhe aabhe bheeg rahe the
aadhe sooke aadhe bheege
sookha tho mein aayi thi
gila man shaayad bistar ke paas pada ho
woh bijwaa do
mera woh saaman lauta do
i think you should change the Blog title.. May be like - Asha -Gulzar- RDB!:-)
ReplyDeleteI remember listening to this song when i was in college, but i never understood the meaning. But i understand what is Gulzar all about. This song is one of Asha's and Gulzar best ever composed and sung. Both of them were the Best of all. Izaazat was a Faaaaaantastic package of all good actors, best screenplay, direction and Music.
ReplyDeleteAnd the best part in this movie is Asha Bhosle, the one and only singer for the entire movie. She has given even more great hits like Katra katra and many more. Particularly this song indeed deserved a Natinal award!!! Wow!! Great lyrics and very difficult to sing!!!

Thanks Sowmya for your comments.
ReplyDeleteJust a couple of points. This song is from the film "Ijaazat" with Naseeruddin, Rekha and Anuradha Patel (grand daughter of Hindi film star Ashok Kumar and one the most beautiful women I had see ever on screen).
Actually there are lines from the film Maachis for which Vishal Bharadwaj is the music director (paani paani re) and Surmayee shaam is from the film Lekin which has music by Hridaynath Mangeshkar. So, in that sense, it is not completely Gulzar, Asha and RDB. But yes.
what you said is right. It almost tempts me to change the title to Gulzar, RDB and Asha.
When you get a chance, pick the album Dil Padosi hai which is a non-film album by this trio...
